I Woke Up Like This

by Levi Lusko on Aug 22, 2021

Pastor Levi Lusko shares a message titled “I Woke Up Like This” at our Sunday Morning Service for Harvest at Home.

Sermon Notes

Successful people are not successful by accident. Whether it be working out, reading a book, or making a good breakfast, almost every successful person has a morning routine. There is no way of telling what will make you successful physically or mentally, but you will never be at your best on this Earth if you don’t figure out what it takes for you to thrive spiritually. Pastor Levi Lusko says that the one thing that has propelled him to continuously move forward spiritually is developing a discipline of daily personal time with Jesus.

Application

In a busy and noisy world, it can be easy to save our personal devotion time for later, when we’ve gotten done with everything we have planned for the day. But in today’s message, we’ll learn about how important it is to develop a routine to wake up your soul and allow your days to be governed by God from start to finish.

Together, in Genesis 28, we will be going through the story of a man named Jacob whose soul and body were asleep in every sense of the word when the Lord came down to him, woke him, and changed the course of his life entirely.

There were four powerful things about Jacob’s encounter with God:

Jacob was amazed –

  • When you learn to seek God, you’ll go into every day amazed
  • Make time to seek God and encounter Him, He will meet you and speak to you

Jacob was included –

  • God used Jacob and his family as part of His plan
  • You’re included in God’s plan so act like it, live for it.
  • Turn your pillow into a pillar

Jacob was invested –

  • Jacob gave his first 10% of every blessing that he received to the Lord
  • Give to God first
  • You will never come in second when you’re putting God first

Jacob was dedicated –

  • Jacob poured oil out on top of the pillar as a way of showing his life was poured out before God
  • His hands were open, completely submitted to whatever the Lord had planned for him
  • Only open, ready hands can receive blessings
