What does it mean to pray fervently? Pastor Greg shares on how to pray with boldness and expectation—to pray with fervency, persistence, and passion that God would hear our prayers and respond to them.

Application

We do not pray more because we think we do not have the time.
One of the biggest lessons from social media will be to prove, on the last day, that prayerlessness was not from a lack of time.
We make time for what matters to us.
We do not pray more because we do not think that prayer is that important.
We do not pray more because we do not think that prayer really works.
“You have not because you ask not.” James 4:2
1. When we are in trouble (James 5:13).
2. When we are sick (James 5:14–15).
3. When we have sinned (James 5:15).
4. When specific needs arise (James 5:16–18).James gives us four specific and practical areas in which prayer is vital.
We should pray when we are facing trouble.
- Every trouble is a call to pray.
- Turn your panic into prayer; turn your worry into worship.
When things are going well, we should praise God!
We should pray when we are sick.
When we pray, we should confess our sin.
- Sickness can come as a result of your own sin.
- The confession that James is speaking of is to be done among fellow believers.
- Confess your sins to those who have been affected by them.
- Private sin requires private confession.
- Public sin requires public confession.
- Unconfessed sin can also hinder prayers.
You are a righteous child of God … pray like one!
Despite your flaws, God hears and will answer your prayers.
Prayerful people are compassionate people.
The phrase wandered away has the same Greek word as our word, “planet.”
We should be aware of our own weakness and propensity to sin
A sign of the End Times is an apostasy (falling away).
Peter’s fall began with boasting, not his denying.
God has called us to reconcile people with God.
